Diarrhoea In Your Pet

Poor digestive health is the second most common reason to take your pet to the vet and is typically caused by food, stress, bacteria, parasites or illness.

If your pet is having profuse or prolonged diarrhoea, diarrhoea with blood, is very depressed, painful or starts vomiting, weight loss, please contact us to arrange an appointment.

What can you do at home to help?

There are a number of measures you can take that can support your dog’s digestive health whilst they have diarrhoea;

  1. A bland, easily digestible, balanced diet given in frequent small amounts.
  2. Ensuring your pet stays hydrated.
  3. Promax is a unique formulation of natural ingredients (probiotic, prebiotic, montmorillonite clay, glutamine), each selected to perform a specific role in discouraging poor digestive health and quickly helping to aid normal intestinal function. It is dosed orally once daily from an easy to use dispensing syringe. This is available without prescription from any of our surgeries.
  4. If the diarrhoea does not improve after 4 days, please consult your vet for further advice.

It is important to remember to clean up diarrhoea carefully and wash hands after doing so.
